Almost-Fast Training

I have restructured my eating habits once again after an irritating set of circumstances led me to a wasted refeed.

Thursday I refed, Friday I missed my workout, Saturday I fasted, Sunday I worked out and refed again.

Refeeding before a workout has been my intention as I am always strongest the day after a refeed. Furthermore, since I spend most of the day not eating following a workout while I wait to be picked up, I just integrate that as the beginning of my fast. However, this has not proven to be the most flexible way of working things. If I miss a workout, I wind up in caloric excess, as I’ll wind up redoing the refeed. I could just pay better attention (thus solving a variety of problems at once) but I’m trying to condition responses so that I can automate/habitualize this nonsense so I don’t have to think about what I’m doing as often.

I think I’m just going to cut out refeeds from my plan, they are too much of a hassle.

I’ll just re-evaluate my maintenance needs and configure them so that they are more satisfying, and be more vigilant with my dedicated fasting days.

Stats
Weight:
156lbs.
Body Fat Percentage: 16.8%
BMI: 23.0
Workout Time: About an hour-and-a-half

These are actually the stats I’ve been with the most often. I hate them; it’s also how I know they’re right. I have 10.608lbs. to lose before I’m 10% bodyfat.

If anybody asks me how much I’m trying to lose: I say 10lbs.
If anybody asks me how much I want to weight: 145lbs. (which would be an 11-pound loss)
If I’m talking to myself: I have at most thirteen pounds to lose before summer.

I tried to come into this workout fasted, but since I’m too cheap to buy BCAAs and I still have a bag-and-a-half of protein powder to use up, I had a shake about an hour before my workout. I also had a Nature Valley peanut bar about 3 hours prior, and a bowl of multigrain cheerios in 1% milk with some flaxseed 7 hours prior. Probably not significant, but I made a note of it regardless.

Lat Pulldown

  1. 45lbs. x 5
  2. 45lbs. x 5
  3. 55lbs. x 5
  4. 70lbs. x 3
  5. 85lbs. x 2
  6. 100lbs. x 6 (barely; stay weight)
  7. 95lbs. x 5 (managed part of the 6th but wasn’t clean enough form; stay weight)

Rested for 3 minutes after each warm-up set, 5 minutes before the top set, and 8 minutes before the final set.

Tall Wolverine (Hugh Jackman?) insisted on going to the water fountain the same times I did, and he snorted and spit into the thing way too much (meaning once or, in this case, more.)

Lateral Raise Machine

  1. 20lbs. x 5
  2. 25lbs. x 5 (20lbs. was just too damn light)
  3. 25lbs. x 5
  4. 30lbs. x 3
  5. 40lbs. x 8 (increase)
  6. 30lbs. x 9 (increase)

Rested for 2 minutes for warm-up sets, 5 minutes before each of the final two.

I wrote my loading parameters in my notebook under the assumption I was going to be using dumbbells. I decided in-the-moment to use the machine after using it for depletion in combination with not liking this exercise with dumbbells. I simply doubled my work set weights and reconfigured everything backward from there. It was an entirely too-easy exercise today, but I loaded conservatively. I had been immunized in both shoulders recently and they were still pretty smart.

This smelly pedophile kept wanting to work in with me and asking me questions about myself while he was presumably interested in working his traps or something. I’m not really sure, but, come on, I know I LOOK underage and I don’t really feel like discussing my training history with a guy who smells that badly and leaves the smell on the machine after he leaves.

Nautilus Crunch

  1. 25lbs. x 5
  2. 25lbs. x 5
  3. 35lbs. x 3
  4. 55lbs. x 2
  5. 65lbs. x 5 (increase)

2 minute rests all the way through the warm-up, 5 minute rest before the top set. I don’t deload because I’m trying to keep volume minimal here.

I was kind of disappointed that the only celebritylike I saw today was Brunette Sabretooth, until I was leaving the gym and I was bumped and “Hey buddy, watch where you’re going!” by Lime Green Kevin Bacon. He even sounded like him, so, that makes up for the ‘sounds-like-him-too Logan.’

Following the workout I checked Vitamin World and GNC for some yohimbine HCL, and nothing to be found. If I can’t find a proper source for this stuff I’m not going to bother doing cardio any time soon.

Went to Panda Express at noon for lunch. Had the chow mein, beef broccoli (a personal favorite), and two veggie spring rolls. Not to forget the fortune cookie: “You have a deep appreciation of the arts & music.” Several refills of diet soda coming from a faulty machine that occasionally ejaculated extra foam. By occasionally, I mean I timed it and it happened every four seconds. The rest of the night was filled with cookies and bagels.

It was a good day.

My mom finally decided to get her Christmas tree out of her house, and I got to be all impressive and carry a tree.
